This introspective and interactive class encourages the learners to reflect within and discover their greatest assets and helps them to develop self-confidence.

In Building Your Self-Confidence:  A Guide for Middle Schoolers, the students will learn what self-confidence is and why it is important. They will also learn how to change negative thoughts and feelings into motivations and positive goals. They will learn how gratitude can improve their daily lives, and they will become skilled participants in self-examination, understanding, and acceptance.

In each class, they will participate in introspective activities which encourage them to see their own unique qualities. They will engage in class discussions which further positive self-talk. The students will learn how they can take control of the negativity that they often experience or perceive.

Students will work on seeing their best selves. This class is not about changing who they are, it is about changing how they think and feel about themselves.

There will be a cumulative project presented during the final class meeting.

This class is a combination of lecture, class discussion, videos, and reflective journaling.

Each week students will be expected to complete provided reading material, complete a journal assignment, and work on their final project. They will have approximately 2-3 hours of homework per week.

NOTE:

Registration deadline is December 15, 2020.

There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
