Essays Intensive with Eva – LIVE – Fall 2021 – Grades 8 – 11
Thursday, October 7 2021 @ 11:00AM - Thursday, December 16 2021 @ 12:30PM EDT| $400.00
This class is INTENSIVE. Let me say that again – INTENSIVE!
For students to be successful in academics, high school and college, it is imperative that they understand how to write an essay. In this class, students will learn how to brainstorm, write, add in various writing techniques and editing a Critique. Expository, Persuasive, Compare/Contrast and Narrative Essay.
Students will learn the differences between all five essays.
Students will learn the elements of an introductory paragraph.
Students will learn the elements of a concluding paragraph.
Students will learn how to write body paragraphs.
Students will learn a variety of stylistic techniques to enhance their writing.
Students should come to this class with writing experience. This is NOT a “one-stop” writing class. This class will take that experience and help perfect it for high school and college writing.
Again, let me say this class is INTENSIVE. It needs to be understood that students will be writing for about 5 hours a week. This is what it takes to write a GOOD essay.
1 hour brainstorming
2 hours writing
2 hours editing
This is at least an hour of focused writing a day – Monday through Friday.
If students want to improve – and feel comfortable with writing – this is the dedication, they need.
Finally, this class is intended to TEACH them how to write an essay; however, it needs to be said, they will need additional practice after this class to feel comfortable with each essay and the process.
Students are expected to post their essays on CANVAS for an evaluation.
NOTE: Registration deadline is September 15, 2021.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
A blessing to our family!
Open Tent Academy has been such a blessing to my family!
My 9th grader enrolled in a year-long Writing course, All About Essays, this year with Ms. Eva and has thoroughly enjoyed the class. His writing has improved ten-fold! We couldn’t be more pleased.
This spring, his sisters have joined him, taking Starting IEW From the Very Beginning and Profiles of History. Both girls love their classes and look forward to each week.
All three of my children have learned so much!
Thank you, OTA!
Much more than just a business - you've changed my son's life and future!
If it wasn’t for Eva’s Writing Classes, which my son has taken for the last five years, J would, without a doubt, not be where he is today. The graduation speech as salutatorian that he wrote is a direct result of your teachings.
I thank God every time he tackles a paper. He uses every skill he has learned from your classes. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.
I know it is a business you run, but it is much more than that. You have truly changed my son’s life and future.
Making the rules of writing so easy!
In middle and high school, I took IEW writing classes with Mrs. Goldstein. Her teaching style and passion for the material made learning the techniques and rules of writing so easy. Today, as I am preparing to graduate from George Mason University, I still apply what I learned from Mrs. Goldstein in every paper I write. I’m so thankful I took her classes many years ago, because it has truly helped me succeed in my current academics!
Responsive and Meaningful
Eva is a very experienced teacher who does not just ‘grade papers’ writing papers but gives meaningful feedback that helps the student learn and improve. She is very responsive by email. The learning management system used by OTA (called CANVAS) is very user friendly and easy to navigate. Eva is kind, reasonable, and has the students’ best interest at heart.
Please – do not miss out on Eva Goldstein-Meola’s IEW Writing classes – you will regret it!
Truly a gift...
I hesitated long and hard about Open Tent Academy and my only regret is not trying it sooner. Both of my kiddos are taking math and writing classes. These classes are truly a gift. Ms. Eva’s IEW Writing Classes and literature are out of this world. Eva might be a tough writing teacher; however, she is fair and loves the children and her work. I couldn’t be more pleased with OTA and plan on having my children take classes for years to come!
