Exploring Shakespeare – Grades 8 – 12 – Spring 2021 – 10 Weeks
Tuesday, April 6 2021 @ 9:00AM - Tuesday, June 22 2021 @ 10:30AM EDT| $250.00
In this high school literature class, we’ll be studying some of Shakespeare’s greatest plays (1 tragedy & 1 comedy) by reading, watching, and discussing them. We’ll be experiencing the plays the way they were meant to be experienced – by seeing them performed, not just by reading them.
After each act read, we will watch that act in class and discuss it in detail to make sure everyone knows what’s going on, why that joke was funny, and why Shakespeare, after all these years, is still one of our most beloved writers. We’ll also learn some about Shakespeare’s life and what was going on in the world around him.
The study of each play will include writing a paper on a student-chosen topic from the play and taking a test on each play.
Students will walk away being familiar with two of Shakespeare’s greatest plays, having a better understanding of the style of language Shakespeare’s plays were written in, and knowing a lot more about Shakespeare himself and the world around him.
Registration deadline is March 15, 2021.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
My daughter enjoyed every minute of this class, and I love that it covered so much more than I’d anticipated her getting to learn! Abigail is a wonderful teacher & I highly recommend any of her classes!
My daughter enjoyed this music class and learned so much about different types of music!
