Open Tent Academy
Open Tent Academy is an all-inclusive, virtual environment where homeschoolers (and “after-schoolers”) can take an array of classes, taught by instructors, who are experts in their fields.
The greatest connection we can have throughout history is the human one. Together, the students and I will take a unique look at each historical figure by sharing some of the lesser known facts that you may not have heard before. We will learn about scientists, statesmen, activitists, authors, athletes and everyday people that made a significant difference in the world around them and forever changed the future. We will begin around the year 1700 and continue through the 1950s.
Students will not only learn history but will learn a method of note taking called – MIND MAPPING. Additionally, students will engage in reading comprehension, critical thinking, reading activities, timelines and creativity!
Students will keep a timeline, world map and complete a project (Historical Person in a Bag), which includes a short (recorded) presentation.
