Students will be introduced to the elements that make up a healthy, sustainable, and livable city.

Together, we will explore real-world problems faced by cities around the world and examine how engineers, architects, and innovators have worked together to create solutions. Classes will consist of active group discussion, group brainstorming sessions, and videos. Students will be challenged each week to employ the engineering design process as they build a component (building, playground, etc.) of their own design with LEGO bricks. Students will present their builds to classmates each week, either live in class or with photos and a written description.

Students will gain understanding of the engineering design process and apply it to their weekly LEGO build assignments. Students will be introduced to real-world STEM concepts including urban planning, sustainability, innovation, and accessibility.  Students will be challenged to think critically about the needs of cities of the future.

NOTE:

Registration deadline is December 15, 2020.

There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
