Powerful Paragraph – IEW – Intensive Workshop – July & August 2020 – 8 Weeks- Wednesday
Wednesday, July 8 2020 @ 11:00AM - Wednesday, August 26 2020 @ 12:30PM EDT| $120.00
Every student should learn how to write an STRONG paragraph! They should be familiar with not only the structure of a paragraph but the various types of paragraphs. Additionally, students need to learn techniques to put their “voice” into their writing.
Every single week, your child will write a one-paragraph paper. Writing a GOOD middle school paragraph takes time. There is a process they will learn to follow. It is expected that students spend time editing. Be prepared for your student to write for about 2 hours weekly. Please make sure you understand that time commitment.
This class will follow the “IEW” philosophy. For those unfamiliar, this simply means that we focus both “structure” and “style” teaching the students a “formula” to write (at first), giving them confidence, so that later, once they understand the elements, they can pick and choose what fits both their style and their voice. Before students can find their voice, they need to understand the options available to them.
Students will learn structure as well as stylistic techniques.
This class is designed for those who are beginners at paragraph writing. If they have had some exposure – amazing; however, I begin from the beginning and build knowledge from there.
If your child is “typically” (not including this time of uncertainty) in public school, this class will support what they need to know for writing in school.
If your child has taken a writing class with me, and they have struggled with writing, this is a good review for them! The more they practice the better they will get!
If your child WILL be taking either MSW next year with me, and have NOT had me for a writing class, this is an amazing jump start to those classes so that they will be able to fly with their wings next year.
