Open Tent Academy
Open Tent Academy is an all-inclusive, virtual environment where homeschoolers (and “after-schoolers”) can take an array of classes, taught by instructors, who are experts in their fields.
When discussing past history, we tend to hear what the men did. It is typically always about the men. However, the truth of the matter is that without women the men wouldn’t be able to do what they did.
This class will explore the role of women during the Revolutionary Era. We will take a look at women’s roles, expectations and struggles of the American women of this time period. Our studies will be centered around the textbook, Women of the Republic, by Lind K. Kerber (please note this is written at college level). There will be weekly reading assignments, PowerPoint lectures, pintable notes (available before every class) and guided discussion. Each student will be responsible for reading the chapter to be discussed before each class.
This class is a combination of lecture, documentary video clips as well as discussion.
Students MUST come to class with their assigned reading completed.
Registration deadline is March 15, 2021.
There must be a minimum of 5 students to run this class.
