SAT Summer Boot Camp: Writing Timed Essays
Monday, 11am-12:30pm EST
This course is an intensive crash course in how to write essays for the SAT. Being able to quickly think and generate short essays is a timely skill – but for many students, a scary one. However, once you’ve learnt it once, it’s a skill that sticks with you for life. Prior writing course experience is helpful, but this course will start from the basics, teaching every student how to quickly improve their scores, as well as gain confidence in their writing ability. Homework will be given weekly, and students will be given access to extra materials to continue practicing beyond the course.
SAT Summer Boot Camp: Mastering Reading Comprehension
Wednesday, 11am-12:30pm EST
This course will focus on strategies to improve speed and comprehension for reading passages, as well as logic and grammar sections. Techniques will include practicing on literary, scientific, and historical passages and will have a focus on working with students to identify individual weaknesses and pinpoint strategies for the test. Homework will be given weekly, and students will be given access to extra materials to continue practicing beyond the course.
SAT Summer Boot Camp: Overcoming the Math Section
Friday, 11am-12:30pm EST
For many students, math is the hardest part of the SAT. However, even for students who aren’t going into STEM fields, a high score on the math can help to set them apart in the applications process. In this course, students will be exposed to all core concepts from the SAT, laid out in a simple, sequential manner. All students will have the opportunity to interact with the instructor during “office hours” following class, and by the end of the course, the students will have notes set to review in the months and weeks prior to their test date. Homework will be given weekly, and students will be given access to extra materials to continue practicing beyond the course.
Note: No grades will be given, although parents may opt in to getting summaries of student performance.
