Brittany was born and raised in sunny Southwest Florida. She graduated summa cum laude from Florida Gulf Coast University and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work. Upon graduation, she spent time working as a Children’s Mental Health Case Manager and then transitioned into the field of education, where she worked as an Academic Advisor for students in grades 7 – 12.
Although the private K-12 school she worked in was prestigious, Brittany began to sense that she wanted a different type of education for her own family when that time arrived. Many years later, Brittany achieved her dream of being a homeschooling mom to two fantastic boys. In 2015, Brittany completed a 200-hour yoga teacher training certification and began instructing in a large homeschool co-op in Pittsburgh, PA, where her family was living at the time.
Since 2016, she has coached over twenty students in grades 4 – 8 on a total of five FIRST LEGO League teams; two of these teams have competed in the Florida State Championship! The FIRST global robotics programs provide students with hands-on STEM experiences in the areas of research, problem solving, coding, and engineering. Her original team, the Edisonian Bots, is named in tribute to Thomas Edison who was not only homeschooled himself, but was also a Southwest Florida resident!
In her spare time, Brittany can be found volunteering with her sons’ Boy Scouts of America units, spending time with friends, and hanging out at the library. Brittany’s two favorite authors are, coincidentally, both British women: Jane Austen and JK Rowling.
Such a Fun Class
The Lego Design Series is such a fun class! It’s also much more than just playing with LEGO pieces. Currently, they’re creating a mini movie (2 minutes or less), learning about plots and characters, etc. In the past, they created environmentally sustainable cities, built a base to support life on the moon, and a few others. It has helped my daughter really dig into her creative side.
After deciding to homeschool this year, I searched high and low for an online class for our youngest child in order to grant me a small built-in break in my week and enable me to focus on some of our other children. I could not be more thrilled with the outcome of this enrollment! As a fellow teacher I was quick to see that Mrs. Brittany Robbins teaches this class with extraordinary classroom management skills and creates an engaging and welcome atmosphere. My newly-minted 7yo was transported into a classroom where she made friends and connected with others. The class is engaging and encouraging to new readers and emerging readers alike. The emphasis on vocabulary expansion has enabled me to shift my other curriculum studies with her. I would absolutely recommend any class with Mrs. Robbins for any child of any age in the future!
The Best Class She Could Imagine
My daughter LOVES Mrs. Robbins’ Harry Potter class. She says the class is “the best class she could imagine.” I appreciate that Mrs. Robbins sneaks in plenty of vocabulary, comprehension checks, and reading practice alongside the fun. We immediately signed up for the follow up class!
My daughter has absolutely loved this Magic Tree House literature series
My daughter has absolutely loved the Magic Tree House literature series. They read a little in class and get a little to read as homework. The vocabulary has definitely helped my daughter learn many new words. The extra activities are fun too. She just loved helping make a sword and shield for The Knight at Dawn. We’re both looking forward to the upcoming classes.
This won’t be the last class with Ms. Robbins
Our eight-year-old daughter has nearly finished her first class with Mrs. Robbins. It certainly won’t be the last! Our daughter has been so delighted with the course material (Harry Potter) and the fun, engaging environment that Mrs. Robbins encourages in each session. Mrs. Robbins listens carefully to students’ questions and we overhear lots of great comments and laughter. The class is a highlight of our daughter’s school week, and we’ve noticed she’s more and more eager to dig into the week’s reading and prepare for the next meeting. Thanks to Mrs. Robbins for bringing so much kindness and enthusiasm to the class!
